  1. It's exactly the alround choice I'm looking for here. Just a clarifying question: are you referring to the 'plain' Qualifier or the Qualifier RR tires? Which Bridgestones are you using? - my problem with the bridgestones is that there are so many models to choose from (bt-002, bt-014, bt-015, and -016) and their website don't line them up the way Dunlop do. The Michelin PowerOne tires & website has the same issue - basically too many variants to choose from, even with their selector website. Thanks to all for chiming in. No worries, Now they have the bt 003's, I was using the bt 015 thought about the bt 016, now using the qualifier as australia hasnt released the q2 yet. From using both tyres I think they're quite similar in how they handle although the dunlop seems to be softer and balls up better, maybe thats from finally sorting my suspension out. I get confused re: tyres as there is so much advancement with compounds etc I'll just keep it simple from now on and use dunlop or bridgestones...or if someone sends me a new set of tyres to try i'll find out that way...try and test it yourself I guess. Dylan
  2. Seems like new leathers are all the rage for christmas presents.I just bought the Shift SR1 1 piece, really comfortable soft leather and designs like Astars used to be afew years ago. I did try on dainese, astars, teknic, rst for thin and long people and berik suits fit pretty well but they were all to too short in the torso or to massive in the arms and legs. Unfortunately I dont have the money to lash out on a new pair of custom leathers so I chose the best fitting and am taking them to MARs leathers in Melbourne to get them altered, the suit cost $600 and the tailoring shouldn't be more than $250. Its as close as I'll get to a set of custom leathers. Bought the tech spec grip and what a massive improvement that made, no longer sliding into the tank when braking hard our slipping off the side when tipping in. It has let me be more confident in my body position because Im holding onto the tank better and letting me relax my upper body more. Great piece of kit that I wished I'd known about years ago. D
  3. Hi KHP, Ive used most types of tyres from pilot powers, bridgestones and the super corsa III. Out of those three I preferred the bridgestone. I have always stayed away from dunlop q's, not sure why maybe because of the dodgy dunlop volleys that people wear( shoes). I thought as the school recommends them and like Cobie says the school has used them forever I'd give em a go, I am more than happy the q's and Im looking forward to the q2 being releasesd in australia soon. Once I'd put them on I found them very quick to warm up very sticky and I was confident riding on them straight away, havent had any rain to ride on yet so can't say how grippy they are in that scenario. not sure if that helps much but there ya go Dylan
  4. Not sure how much 180% tax is but in Melbourne it costs around $500 per year, some cars cost less to register
  5. Gday Jeff, Mate if we had the option for a 2 day school in Australia I reckon most of us would take that. More track time + more practice = more results. I understand the cost is high,(we pay around the same and have no slide bikes, cam bikes etc) even missing out on that stuff Id still pay the same!! So bugger it mate spend the extra....its Christmas!!!! Whatever you choose you'll definately enjoy it and change the way you go about riding ,safer ,more confidant and need I say it Faster!!!, these guys will go above and beyond to help when you want it . Oz
  6. It really sounds like a level 2 drill, maybe try the pickup drill and get that head up looking ahead prior to hitting your apex and roll that throttle on
  7. Yeh understood him just fine no Ye ha's or anything wierd like like, he's good with his passing on info just straight to the point no waffling, and funnily enough he asks questions to get me to answer my question.... sounds like being in the forum. Dylan
  8. Yeh normal everyday road that I use and its in an area that has recently had a lot of traffic so I think it may be similar to what your saying, just a ###### bit of timing on my behalf
  9. Hey guys thought I'd share my new body position with you, few things to fix but Im overall pretty happy I would appreciate any comments
  10. Keith, Cobe and the rest of the team. I finished L2 today @ Phillip Island, 15 Dec, my coach was Mikey(the yank). To put things bluntly he is without a doubt fanfreakingtastic, he did something into hayshed that I had to look twice at (right hander very fast)left hand over throttle hand touching ripple strip with left hand WTF insane...when I get younger I want to be just like him!!!! You are restricted to only sending him to Australia from now on !!!!!Just from a couple of things he got me to do changed the way I rode dramatically body position, confidence, speed and heaps more, when I get the pictures sorted I hope the comments will be good. SO happy it hurts in my leathers!!! Again thanks for the great staff, training and drills
  11. Hey Cobie just wondering what the reason for the change to bmw was? Im really interested in how you guys rate the bmw and which other bikes the school tried before the change, did any others rate better or was the bmw thte best overall package? Looks really sharp though!! Cheers Dylan
  12. I think if you watch the end of that footage, as he's riding off into the sunset, was him sayiing holy snapping ducksh?t did that really just happen and im still riding!!? If keith or someonoe can ask the likes of luthi edwards and the rest what went through their heads as it was happening that would be cool. But at this point in time Im agreeing with greg!!!
  13. Well if your talking about scottish biker chicks in thongs you'll need to make sure its in summer, (my family is from Paisely), bit chilly during winter. Check out the latest combined neck and back protection that inflates on impact, Lorenzo's dainese racesuit after his prang at Phillip island this year. Fantastic piece of kit!! There is also alot of other companies coming out with similar type ideas, Dainese has put tonnes of money into this and I think the trialing another version
  14. Chopping the throttle may be the answer combined with knee and elbow push, the bike should try to stand itself up with the chopping of the throttle/ I think the lean bike is the best way to test it, so if you want me to give it a go and dod some testing some plane tickets and accommodation would be nice
  15. Hey Stevo, My thought is this, and becoause of my recent prang I'm going to be long winded. The road is full of 'unknowns' and you can end up on your arse at any time, whether it be from gravel, truck, car, train tracks etc etc, too many variables on the open road. Now a track has one way traffic, lets hope, and run off, emergency service professionals on standby as well as enforced breaks ie 20 min sessions or 8-10 laps, clean roads. The majority if not all the variables/risks are known by staff or yourself. Hopefully a random truck doesnt pull out on the track as your giving it some around a corner. Considering this you would think that most people would get all the safety gear for the unknown variables or risks ie the road, yeh? Its the opposite, I find people are quite happy to ride in shorts thongs (flip flops for you unAustralians) on the road for a quick trip down the shops, thats when most accidents happen, a couple of kilometres from home. To me thats crazy, and if I hadnt been wearing my full leathers and back protector on the road 2 weeks ago then I probably would still be in hospital getting massive skingrafts. Why be any unsafer off the track? Just wear your 1 piece, 2 mins extra time to get ready, use a backpack or gear sack for your spare stuff. Buy a back protector for about a hundred bucks and if your unlucky enough to come off at least you'll have something to protect you a bit more. Well thats my two cents worth
  16. Tried to be colin the other week using knee and elbow but didnt help me get the bike back up....just a nice little slide at a constant speed along the road was my end result.
  17. I went to my local motorcycle tyre dealer and he said they didnt know what a Q2 was, just looked at me funny, funny thing is he is a major dunlop dealer. Is the tyre called something different in Australia? I've been using battalax 015's and corsaIII's just want to see what all the fuss is about the dunlop Q2's.
  18. Yeh it is quality stuff, one of my clients sells all the gilles stuff really good customer service and no dramas. Gilles Tooling
  19. Hey Lazarus, Maybe have a look at this site for fairings, they're an australian company, and cheap. Injected moulded plastic they claim a 98% fit if your bikes not bent, full decals as per your model or race replica. Just thought you or someone else might want a look. Fairings
  20. Hey Adam, I went back yesterday to the spot, with the minister of war and finance(wife), and there was a tonne of gravel all over the place, like kitty litter. Im going to send the council a nasty letter and maybe my repair bills. I dont think I could have done anything different except go a different way. Im only getting SR's when Im turning in right, bit of tunnel vision and Im finding that Im tensing up on the bars a bit and a being a little bit softer when pushing on the clip ons for countersteering, guess I think that theres no grip from the front? May have just remidied that though; the clip on had moved around the triple clamp(1 finger distance to tank from clip on @ full lock) so it felt weird when steering, like the front wanted to go out from under me, feels ok at the moment but I'll see tomorrow when I go for a ride, also have a new clip on coming just in case that ones bent too much. But look on the bright side I get to buy some new gilles rearsets!! Dylan
  21. After my recent prang Im leaning more and more to track days only... this clip sorta makes me lean just a bit more!!
  22. Yeh I think im feeling the same way, I mentioned it in another thread the other day that the road is no longer fun. At the moment Im lacking confidence to get the bike over guess I think Im going to lose traction. I know I wont but my head keeps telling me the bikes sliding when its not.... Thanks for the comments Dylan
  23. Hey Bullet, I was as is now a habit, doing the two step at the time, and it wasnt until i was feeling the front slide that I even knew something was wrong. Ido remember tryingto loook through as I was on the way down, but I think catching a glimpse of hte car behind me sort of blew things out. I've had 2 big crashes that were easier to deal with but maybe your right and Im stuck on hte car? Guess I'll see come level 2 thanks mate...hows your collarbone doing?
