  1. There are videos of bikes taking longer to stop with abs. What then?
  2. Stick with the BMW.The electronics will help you safely raise your skills.
  3. Speaking of figure of 8's.....it was for this reason i started the Moto Gymkhana threads wayy back.I really think there is a lot to be learned from such training.
  4. Interesting information there Eirik. Can you elaborate further?
  5. Actually, i could get one of the older two stroke bikes and mod them as MX bikes. It has been done before with some success.I think my throttle and clutch control will improve more with a 2s than 4s? Besides, the 2s will be lighter and way cheaper to buy used/junked. There is a dual sport available...but too little power.Only 14 miserable horse.Pah! I hate scooters with all my hear and soul.Nearly died on one.....
  6. No dirt bikes sold here i am afraid.Hence the question....
  7. Can the same benefits be gained by riding a streetbike [ naked or standard ] somewhere like a playground or a dirt road? Not gravel or sand, but dirt enough?
  8. How important really is riding in the dirt as a part of your training? Most of the top riders swear by it. What part of your road racing improved as a consequence of riding the dirt, and is a rider who does not have access to a dirt bike at a disadvantage to those who ride dirt bikes regularly?
  9. This is an ancient battlefield technique. The wounds would be bound with silk and herbs afterward.
  10. Would you say that it is best to lock yourself to the tank with both knees rather than drag a boot or put it pointing outward as you are on the brakes and about to turn in?
  11. I suppose a heavy man would fare better because the rear end would not come up as much and the bike will not wheelie as much?
  12. Great point Dylan, that had never struck me before. Have we finally come to a consensus as to what exactly the dangling achieves? Is it useful in the wet as you turn in on the brakes?
  13. I think staying on the bike during acceleration and braking takes more out of then than turning the bike?
  14. I guess the " Weighting the inside peg " myth may contribute to some fog regarding weight on the inside leg?
  15. I do believe all this moving around means that a stronger man will be less affected by fatigue. If you are strong, the exertion will not tire you out as much as a weaker guy even if he has trained for endurance.
  16. You are correct about the chicane part.Scott Redding said taller guys can move the bike through the esses quicker than the smaller guys. But being small has advantages all round the track...
  17. Speaking of Pedrosa, i have made an observation. At some race both Rossi and Pedrosa were on the podium. When they came into the winners area, there was noticeably less wear on Pedrosa's rear tyre even though the Repsol Hondas are harsher on the tyres.Rossi must be 12-15 kilos more than Pedrosa i think....surprising the difference that makes! There are some claims that a taller man can turn the bike better because he has more leverage....i wonder how much of an advantage this is over being small and light?
  18. How much of an impact does bodyweight have in racing? Is a heavier guy at a disadvantage compared to a guy 10 or even 15 kilos lighter than him? I was looking at the heights and weights of the MotoGp riders....my are they smaller than i thought!! What advantage and disadvantages are there to being tall/short and heavy/light? The average height and weight is 5 5 to 5 6 and 55-60 kilos for most riders.
  19. How could you save a highside with that position? Being lower meant it was more difficult for the bike to throw you off?
  20. A squirming bike may render the riders behind cautious besides occupying more space on the track? Possibly....
  21. Correct, but i think this backing it in business may look exciting but slow as compared to being smooth.
  22. Correct, i saw the first lap and thought it was only Doohan but then i saw different riders at different points being crossed up, with their lower body twisting around the tank a bit... Maybe the coaches can elaborate on this?
  23. I was watching this race - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkAKN1I-784 Watching Doohan....it strikes me that his body position is a bit off...is he twisting a bit on the bike because he is hanging off so much? Or is it just me?
