  1. There is less grabbing in Moto Gp then? Why?
  2. I was watching the recent Moto2 race at Austin and noticed the bikes slid about a fair bit under braking. In close up shots of riders, i could see them grabbing rather than applying the brakes and it did not seem smooth at all.Can someone explain braking in Moto2 to me...what makes them grab the brakes like that? Is that what unsettles the bikes so much as they enter turns? Has anybody made any other observations regarding Moto2?
  3. Have you considered a 600 over a litre bike? The Kawasaki 636 is a great track and street bike.SO is the ZX 10.Near S1000RR performance but more comfortable it seems.Both are the most powerful jap bikes stock. The Honda 600 and 1000 are easy to ride but not the most powerful.The Suzuki 600 and 1000 are great, but the 750 is best for you i think.Have you considered the gixxer 750? The Yamahas are nice for track work.

I thought they dragged the boot as a sort of crutch so that under hard braking and as they were tipping it is, the foot in contact with the ground would act as some sort of support and keep them from falling off if the front end started to give out a bit? Where can i read/find this list about body position, if you please?

In the photo of Marquez, i see he has the arch of the outside foot on the peg and more of the outside of the foot on the peg rather than the ball area....but not tilted as much as Dylan i think.What i take away is that when you put your knee out and try to put weight on the ball of the foot, more weight falls to the outside area of the foot because the knee is away from the body.The reverse would occur if you tried to put weight on the ball of your foot with your knee drawn towards your other leg. I have also observed that the position of the feet varies a bit in the races, especially when there is someone close by trying to overtake or they go in too hot.When they are alone their position is more consistent.
  8. Interesting that you should mention Marquez, Dylan.I was watching the circuit of the Americas GP race today and made the following observations. 1. Some riders put the ball of the foot area on the outside peg when leaned over.Others put the arch area, the kinda crease between the heel part and toe part in a race boot on the pegs.Some use the area a little behind the ball of the foot. Also the foot is slightly turned away to the outside, kinda pointing at the sky when leaned over. Is any one method better? Or is it just a matter of preference as long as you have a secure hold? 2. As they are approaching the turn and are doing the hard braking while upright, some slide their foot along the tarmac [ Rossi, Bradl ] while Lorenzo will put his inside leg way out in an exaggerated triangle [ The triangle of light i believe it is called ].The ball of his foot is on the peg and his foot is turned toward the corner at about a 45 degree angle. [ I think this is the correct position ] Then, as they lean the bike over the guys who drag their boot on the tarmac will fold their leg in one motion on to the peg and settle into the hang off position. Lorenzo [ who already has the ball of his foot on the peg ] will bring his knee toward the bike as the bike leans over ie - His knee is dragging on the ground, and comes closer to him as the bike leans more and more. Furthermore, the heel of the boot on the inside leg will be touching the bike....the part which the peg attaches to.Therefore both feet will be turned away by some amount. I have not observed the Dylanesque outside of the foot on the peg tilt on anyone [ these two GP's past ] and was wondering.

Hi Dylan, I see that in the turns with regard to your inside foot, you do not keep the ball of the foot on the peg but the outside part on the peg and the ball of the foot kind of raised at an angle and touching the part the peg is attached to? Can you explain why you do this as opposed to the traditional ball of the foot on the peg in the turns?
  10. Correct, as cheekpads are available in different sizes and you can swap them out if need be.
  11. I had similar thoughts regarding price and protection.However, some of the older top shelf helmets are going fairly cheap now...so i suppose price is subjective. In addition, i agree that fit is of prime importance.Many people think a helmet should be loose and comfy but apparently they should be so tight you must not be able to chew gum or talk while wearing one. I was looking at the Vemar Eclipse.Any experience with this one?
  12. Any one have experience with Vemar helmets? More specifically the Eclipse model? I have heard they are good but have some fit and finish issues....
  13. Hmm i tried to get the Charge suit they had for 400 but that did not happen and they are all sold out now.I hope i can pounce on the next sale. Have you tried the gloves they offer by any chance?
  14. Thanks for the input guys.Schuberth helmets are very good but pricey.Even more than top shelf AGV and SHoei helmets. The older SHoei's were noisy but the new RF 1200 is supposed to be well vented but quiet.I am looking to get a new helmet and was looking at the AGV Ti Tech.It was AGV's top of the line race helmets a while ago and go fairly cheap now.Anyone familiar with them? Was also looking at the Shark RSR2 which is a full carbon fibre and aramid composite shell. Any good helmets you know of in the 100-300 dollar range? Will be used for commuting, touring and some track riding.
  15. Hey guys, I have been away for a bit, so here is an interesting topic of debate.What should one look for in a good helmet/what makes a good helmet? What helmet do you use and what do you have to say about them? Is carbon fiber and kevlar really so much superior to fiberglass as far as impact resistance is concerned?
  16. Ok there are 2 kinds of stretching - 1. Active - That which you can do on your own.You bend and touch your toes, your abs contract and your spine is stretched. 2. Passive - You get outside help.You can't touch your toes, but your buddy pushes down on your shoulders and pushes you down further than you can go by yourself. If something has to be stretched, something else has to contract by default...usually the equal opposite.EG - Back contracts, abs stretch.Abs contact, back stretches. Before you stretch, you need some warming up [ Depending on how intense your stretch is, and also your general fitness ].Light wrist,ankle, arm rotations etc followed by the more intense touching toes or bending backwards or whatever. I would disagree that time is more important than intensity.A ten second bridge hold is more productive than a longer duration of a less intense exercise.

The Spartan website does not list any Custom cut suit for 549 bucks.The standard " Charge " suit itself is 600 bucks....unless you guys got a special deal it does not add up. Going by the picture, it looks very nice.

  19. You can countersteer at just about any speed, except maybe when you are barely moving or a little faster.
  20. They countersteer to initiate the turn, and then turn the bars in the direction of the turn to continue it?

I was watching this Moto Gymkhana video and am trying to work this out - They counter steer to weave in between the cones.But when they do U turns and circles, they are turning the bars right to go right and left to go left...? Are they initiating the U turns and circles by countersteering and then turning the bars right to go right and left to go left...? Help me understand this? Thanks
  22. You know how roads have dirt piled up toward the outer edges? Say you are in a corner, it is off camber and you are running wide and going into the dirt.What do you do then? Lean further or slow down by trailing the brakes? Or both?
  23. I see.What about something like the 675 Daytona or the MV F3 which have a fair amount of tech as well? Even 600's these days have power modes and everything, and the new 636 Kawi has a great electronics package. ( Asking for info, not argument ).
  24. Wouldn't a good 600 be better and easier to handle when teaching etc? ( Sorry for OT post )
