  1. I would always watch the mechanic work, remember if they mess up it is your life on the line.
  2. When you use the camera bike for instance, can you pick out the mistakes because of the slower pace?
  3. No you see some people charging the turn to overtake and then running wide etc.I do agree that they cannot be emulated.
  4. I did learn a few things, like lines from the video.
  5. How much can you learn by say watching a MOTO GP race on video? Everything is happening so fast and the GP riders jump and do other " Bad Body Positions " in the race. I saw Pedrosa practically leaping from side to side to get his bike turned in the chicanes. Can someone shed some light on this?
  6. May i recommend wrestler's bridges and neck bridges as the ultimate neck workout? That should get your scrawny/creaky necks to speed soon.Be very very careful though, start slow.
  7. I have observed women here driving sitting stiff as a board also. I wonder if most men try to be cool by crouching and riding hard, as a way to impress women? HF may have experienced this fawning. For me the number one tell is excessive rider input.Going too fast, braking too hard, changing gear roughly etc.I observe the pillion ( usually a girl ) nearly falling off and then slamming into the rider as a consequence of this rough riding. Smooth riders who change gear correctly are a rarity who are duly noted. Personally, i prefer a newbie ride slow and stiff than fast and stupid. At least a slow rider will speed up as he gets confident.A fast idiot will slow down only after a crash. On the track i would add the line he takes to the equation as well.Hard braking and throttle may be forgiven, but unproductive lines surely indicate inexperience.
  8. The spark plug etc is true, there are kits available i think. More to the point, full exhaust systems by Arrow, Akrapovic etc seem to have this effect.
  9. Is an exhaust spitting flame a good or bad sign? I have observed this in highly tuned vehicles, especially race cars. I understand this is unburnt fuel being dumped into the exhaust when changing gear or after you chop the throttle. Is there any way this can intentionally be done? I think this is cool.
  10. I think champions understand some things many can't or missed.
  11. Are you saying your bike is not street legal? Because you have a slipper, get the downshifting done and focus on your entry speed instead.Remember you can downshift with a roll off also...
  12. On cruisers and stuff you grind the hard parts easily and it is ok if you do so.On sports bikes, you are quite close to the limit if you are scraping the pegs ( if you hang off, your knee will be touching long before the pegs do ) and you maybe frightened or the tire may unload. I want to learn to really get the bike down without hanging off if i could not hang off for some reason.Just good to know.
  13. I guess when you are cruising about it won't matter if the revs rise when you downshift with a roll off but when you are racing it could cause problems...
  14. It is no necessity but good to know as pointed out. This is how i do it.Ready your foot by keeping on the gear lever, roll off gas.Blip.In the highest part of the blip ie the max throttle, press down.It will be smooth and you will keep going like nothing happened. The timing has to be proper or the bike will jerk forward/not shift.
  15. I guess with some practice it would get easier...? I will concur it takes more time to get the clutchless downshift right than the clutchless upshift...
  16. You blip and downshift without the clutch.Best done on higher gears first.
  17. Not to mention, instability can be useful - Look at the GP guys spinning the wheel to get the bike turned. It works for them but doesn't for most.
  18. I guess we are talking about " Good " and " Bad " instability then...instability you want and don't want...
  19. Unstable means easier to turn and stable means more difficult to turn.Different factors contribute to stability eg - wheelbase. Some stability or instability is caused by the rider eg - rider input.
  20. Thanks, any clue as to the technique in the vids?
  21. I have not been to any track i do know the ring and and the Isle of Man TT course are two things many hundreds try to master every year without success.
  22. Found this How does the cop do those 360's and 8's on such a heavy bike, at almost full steering lock and the pegs scraping, so smoothly? Do you lock the bars and give a constant amount of throttle ( he did not roll on )? I am curious regarding this technique. On sport bikes ( Moto Gymkhana ) the riders are even more aggressive and can do a U-turn in eight feet or so.Does anybody have any ideas? I know for sure if you chop the throttle you will fall.
  23. Why do you think the ring is too dangerous?
