  1. Exactly as Kevin said. It depends on how much you still use in your track riding. I believe that if I were to go 8 years between schools, I'm still doing plenty of track, and will have worked on levels 1-2 drills for 8 years.
  2. I either wasn't paying attention, or it was in a different level. Was it level 3? There was a discussion on the forum about body position and hip movement and the quick flick. And I was asleep on the couch at 7pm, and in the bed by 10.
  3. Lucky duck. I've got some friends doing some one days at Willow, and if I'm healthier and have the cash, I'm going. I'm still too weak to do trackdays in January, but will get as many in as possible this spring before summer gets here.
  4. I always thought the 125's to be a great entry level for the GP riders. Get them used to the basics, and the competition of the MotoGP circuit. And I'm not all familiar with the bore depth. It's been capped at 81 mm. For the mechanically inclined, what is that going to affect?
  5. The racers on TV are doing just that: racing. If you plan on racing or do race now, it would benefit you to make sure you start learning that process once you learn the standard approach to cornering. It's the basics of what you will be doing when you race. The goal of a proper turn is to brake to the turn point, make your steering adjustment at the turn point, get on the gas as soon as possible. It coincides, for me, more with the type of turn than the apex. If I'm doing an early apex turn I'm on the gas before the apex because I'm planning on kicking the bike outside quickly. If I'm doing a turn with another one quickly after, I will hesitate for a second before getting back on the gas after making my steering input so I don't go out so wide, and stay more inside or in the middle of the track for the second corner. I never really attach the apex to when I get back on the gas.
  6. I didn't even pay attention to the throttle (had the volume off) until I read all the posts after watching it the first time. You are doing what I did for the longest time, and did it for such a long time that I still have to work on it, and it's called "maintenance throttle." It takes faith in the bike, but it will feel better if you accelerate slowly while still in the corner. It will give you that 40/60 ratio. This also fits in with the pick up drill. If you haven't done level 2, read over the pick up drill. You're well onto the straight before the bike is upright.
  7. Howdy. Good to have another very..... experienced rider among us.
  8. Howdy. Good to have you. Great opportunities to learn on this site. I'm usually more active on the site, but have been battling pneumonia and Valley Fever for two and a half weeks now. I'll be around more soon, hopefully.
  9. Hopefully that means he's in the USGPRU if it comes around here this year. They haven't marked it on the CCS calendar. Fingers crossed.
  10. Big news in the world of motorcycle racing. http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2009/FIM+ann...for+2012+MotoGP
  11. Thats the idea i hope ! Thanks for the welcome, sure is a friendly and enthusiastic site, looking forward to maybe Brands next year for starters as its 'bout half hour from me. Cant upload pic? select file, click on upload, goes thro the motions then says file not selected? Any ideas ? MAYBE Brands? half an hour? How could you not do it? With the pics, I don't know. I've tried to put up new ones, and it seems to be selective.
  12. You know, just when I take levels 1-2, and know what you guys are talking about, you go and start bringing up level 3 stuff.
  13. If you can take the time to work on the quick turn and the 2 step (they go hand in hand), you'll be better served. You will see more improvement with this than anything else you'll learn at the school. You'll have a better understanding of it, and taking that time to improve on it with an instructor behind you will be priceless. And they had my Kawi at the school so I didn't have the same problem, but know what you're talking about. Have fun.
  14. Howdy, Bananaman. Good to have you. If you're really working at improving, stick with the site. You'll learn.
  15. What Fajita Dave said. Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I've been sick.
  16. VERY nice. I'm just getting over the flu and some reactions to medications, so I'm missing Sunday, and seeing pics like those make me jealous I don't get to ride.
  17. Until you've reached that limit of your tire traction, given type, temp, what have you, you can have a combination of friction braking and manual braking before surpassing the traction limit. It's about keeping it under that limit.
  18. Last year the one in Phoenix was so horrible that they didn't even bother bringing it back this year. I was going to travel to see it, but my wife had to take her nursing final and now is going to start working. First time since 2000 I'm going to miss it.
  19. Howdy. Seems like EVERYONE is getting rid of their Kawasaki's. Darn shame. Welcome anyways.
  20. I never thought about it. I guess on the track I know there is that inherent risk that I may go down, and I don't have that mindset when I'm commuting.
