  1. I practice looking into corners, and since learning to look before I hit my turn point, I practice that. I'm always looking ahead of the car in front of me as well as the cars behind me. Thanks to my US Army provided PTSD I'm hyper-alert, and I'm always being followed (they DID say that my combat related PTSD isn't military related, by the way). With that, if I space for a second on the track and someone passes me (I get passed a lot), I over react. I've learned to adjust the bike well, but it can still get me every now and again. I do work on expanding my vision. I've just started, but every once in a while I remember to try paying more attention. WITH PTSD I'm forgetful, so I do forget that a lot.
  2. I see exactly what you're saying, Cobie. I have it recorded (I save them to watch during the off-season) and watching the replay when they show the overhead view, you can see the back kick out. I initially only saw the front give, but it was when the bike was rebounding. I'm guessing that since he lost so much speed during the collision that Lorenzo was trying to dip the bike and get back on the gas. Maybe he had his traction control dialed down. Stoner definitely did. He was sliding all over the place. He was under control, but kept kicking the bike out. Probably saved his tires by keeping the heat down.
  3. This sparks another question about the bikes that will be provided. While my bike is STILL in the shop, I'm trying to keep up with my BP on my wife's bike, but don't feel comfortable without stomp-grip. Do the schools bikes have it? I've been riding with it on my bike for almost 2 years, and even though it's similar to the schools bike, I don't know how comfortable I'll be able to get not having it.
  4. That looked fun. Loved your line through turn one.
  5. 11 years now. '98 Suzuki Marauder. I didn't know anything about bikes, and thought the 800 cc engine was going to make me faster than my friends 600cc Suzuki Katana. '99 Triumph Legend. I was just telling my wife that I should have kept this bike. It was on this that I realized how stupid I am on the things, and sold it to an old woman who needed a mode of transportation for her son who was getting out of prison. '05 Kawasaki ZX6R. I'm going to ride this thing into the dirt. I love this bike. Besides the MV F4CC, I still could never find a bike that I wanted more than mine until I rode the '09 R1. It's ugly, but is like progressing beyond motorcycles, if you could do that.
  6. Does it say anything about when the DVD is being released?
  7. Wow. You sound pumped to be on the site I guess. Just start a post and "bump" it 50 more times.
  8. It wasn't a highside. Lorenzo knocked into Hayden going into one and the bike shuttered. After that the bike slid sideways kinda, and then it slammed him to the ground. He wouldn't have been able to finish anyway. There had to be something wrong with the bike for it to do that. I'm thinking it's the TC. Rossi had more control of the bike, and Stoner was sliding all over the place. He had control over the bike, but that's how highsides do happen. I'm thinking Lorenzo rides with his TC dialed way down. It doesn't look like it though from watching him.
  9. Is that going to be the costume? CF No. I go to Vegas a lot, and have always wanted to do it. Just grow out some stupid sideburns. Don't ask me why. I'm not even an Elvis fan. I'm going dressed as a CSS student.
  10. Haha actually I have no idea. I just found that picture on another forum . I looked for it but I couldn't find it anywhere. It looks like a good 75-80 degrees to me though. I don't think it can be that far. Pedrosa gets over 65 degrees, and he probably gets over farther than the others.
  11. I'm not doing it right? It's so comfortable, and seems to work really well for me. Granted I'm going to do whatever makes me better, but I thought I had that part down. It's a double apex corner, and I was coming in tight, leaning on the front left bar, and then start pushing on the outside bars to get wide enough to make it. That was tiring. I ended up changing my one RP out a couple feet, and collecting a few to get me out there consistently. I can't wait until the school. Everything I'm doing so wrong will be corrected, or at least I'll be on the path to doing it right. Give me the tools, and I'll improve. I can't tell you guys how excited I am to be going. And tomorrow my wife will be Mrs. Ten Days.....
  12. LOL, the infamous Jasonzilla! I'll have to find you and say "hi"... maybe you can sign my forehead a la Ricky Bobby. You gonna be there? I'm bringing my own equipment, so you probably won't miss me. Tall, handsome fella, and I've grown out the chops. I was limited in how big I could grow them (wife). My wife told me "they look stupid." And I said "that's what I'm going for. They're mutton chops woman." As soon as I shaved we had "Mexican Elvis" in the ER. He didn't look Mexican until he started speaking (Spanish). Boots, clothes, glasses, HUGE sideburns, and the dew. We couldn't stop laughing. And I'll sign anything you want big boy.
  13. I don't have rearsets, but a post we had not too long ago keyed me in to setting them up. Wouldn't locking into the tank be the ideal setup for placement? And I think I remember you, PCP. Were you on southwest rides or Devil Riders for a while? I thought I read about you moving. I recognize the Firebird pic you're using as an avatar.
  14. Jason, For sure stay in touch with us on this point. Putting new tools in place often takes a little attention, until they become "yours", but if you get stuck on something, let's go over it. We'll see how it goes after the 2 days CF I'll be doing a Nov 22 class after the school, and between the school and track I'm going to really work on setting what I've learned in stone.
  15. Everyone I know is aware of how long till I go to Vegas. Today my wife will be referred to as Mrs. Eleven Days.
  16. Congratulations Greg. Your last video was awesome. Can't wait for this one.
  17. I wonder if our EMS personnel are getting trained on this. I'll have to ask a few of them next time I work.
  18. Sounds like you've got it right. Most pressure should go to the legs because the larger muscles can take more punishment before fatigue. The problem I've had that I corrected is that I was sort of fighting a particular corner all the way through. 210 lb's pushing against that cornering force all day is tiring. It's a 180 degree corner. I fixed it with little work: relax your arms, lock in your legs, and RP'S!!!
  19. I'm not sure I've been on that site. Part of the reason I've changed my name on this one is because I'm "Jasonzilla" on all of the other ones.
  20. I have another ID on this forum that I've just changed from. It had hundreds of posts on it, and I had to start from scratch just to change my display name. Take a deep breath and start posting.
  21. Howdy. Sounds like you're having fun and doing pretty well. Welcome to the forum.
  22. Great post. It brings a question to mind. Sorry if it's not on topic. Is there any chance that after the school, once I get back to my home track, that I fall back into my old habits? I can do lap after lap within a second of each other at times. I implement new things that I feel make me more comfortable and confident, but it never helps my times. For anyone who sees me ride in Oct/Nov class, they'll see that I have an abundance of bad habits.
  23. It's not deceiving, it's amazing lean angle. The track is banked. His knee is lower than his contact patch. Plus the GP bikes are thinner and taller providing the ability to lean much farther than ours can. It was my screen saver for a while.
