  1. OK I'll bite. I'm a road rider and often do a 400k (approx 250 mile) ride on the weekend. I work out and if I know I'll be riding I don't do weights for a few days before hand. I'm a bit careful with my diet before riding. Nothing rich. Also keep my fluids up. Pile of muesli bars and water in my bag. Double espresso before I head off. Read anything I can related to riding.
  2. I've got a little Michelin foot pump that has an accurate pressure gauge on it. Cost around AUD$40.
  3. I've got an ER6N (the naked version of the 650R) and have a Bridgestone BT023 front and BT021 rear. No problems with grip. The 023 is an improvement. Run the book pressures 32 front, 36 rear. I also tour a bit and the mileage is good. Suspension could be improved but if you adjust it to your weight its OK (and not as soft as some bikes I've ridden).
  4. I'd suggest reference points and turn in points. The rest follows once you get these right.
  5. Use the rear brake properly. I hardly use it at all but I've ridden with good road riders that do and it seems to give them an advantage on down hill twisties. PS Its late spring in Aus and when it stops raining the riding is good.
  6. I work out and spoke to a gym instructor who also rides about the sore leg problem and she gave me sumo squats http://www.fullfitness.net/exercises/legs/sumo-squat along with abs and back exercises. seem to work for me anyway

His own reluctance to show rookie Hector Barbera the secrets to a fast lap round the spectacular Mugello track cost him dearly. Rossi had slowed by nine seconds in the third section to avoid towing Barbera, but in doing so he’d let crucial temperature drop out of the left side of his rear Bridgestone tyre and he high-sided at over 100mph when he decided to revert back to his full flying pace.

  11. Up in the mountains overtaking a line of trucks on a borrowed bike. A corner was coming up so I pinned the throttle and instead of taking off like my bike would I hit the rev limiter. Then a car came around the corner. First and hopefully the only time I've used that special motorcycle lane in the middle of the road. Target fixation is OK if you fixate on the right thing!
  12. The sport channel over here has been replaying 500cc motogp's from the early 90's. Its very much position A, head over the tank. Its pretty amazing how things have progressed since then. Valentino et al are elegant in comparison. The old stuff looks like WSB. Wonder how much of the change is due to Keith's influence or whether its more adapting to the new technology?

  14. Borneo (Sabah) was great. Its quite wealthy from timber, palm oil and oil and the roads are very good. Real mixture of roads from paved lanes through paddy fields and villages to good twisties and highways through the mountains. Dirt if you want. We were on Aprilia 650 dual sport things but still the fastest things on the roads. Away from the towns there was little traffic and we could ride hard all day. Good Malay food in the villages. Did a package with accomodation in a luxury B&B in the hills and rode most days.
  15. You guessed right. Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Can't do CSS for a while as I'm recovering from a shoulder reconstruction then heading OS. Shoulder should be good when I get back. I ride a Kawasaki ER6n. Done all my training with HART so far plus a few weeks with Borneo Biking Adventures. (No speed cameras in Borneo )
  16. A new Aussie member. A keen road rider but with the draconian speed laws we have here the track beckons. Anyway I've enjoyed lurking on the forum and I might get a bit more out of it now I can ask questions. No CSS yet but aiming to do one later in the year.
