  1. If a rider has good throttle control, and doesn't add lean angle and throttle at the same time, he won't get surprised. He'll also (or she) find the limits of that tire, warm or cold, better or worse than some other tire, whatever it is. Street tires of today would have won races of some years ago (Keith has written about that). Sometimes you have to take a look at who is writing/giving a tire opinion. Fast racer, griping cause it's not as grippy as a "real" race tire--but he's still within 2-3 seconds of his best lap time? C So with better throttle control, I can feel the limits of the tire? How do you recommend dealing with the confidence issues? For example: I went out a few nights ago and metup at the hangout. We sat around for awhile and then all departed. Knowing it was cold out, I took it easy as one of the guys blasted by me. At the light, I cautioned him about the tarmac/tire/ambient temperature. His reply was, "I don't worry about that, I'm on ****" (same brand tire I'm on, different compound). Light turns green and away he went, hanging off around the tight DR turn, while I meandered about my cold tires. What does he know that I need to find out? Or is it the other way 'round?
  2. I posted this in the wrong section so here it is again:
  3. Although I don't have experience with that brand of tire, if they're 3k street miles, I'd ride on them w/o any qualms whatsoever.
  4. Faylix, I have the rearsets for my F4i. I've been reluctant to write a review of them because I have mixed feelings about them too. Seems like a good product that needs just a little more R&D and a complete parts bag, then it's ready for prime time. Do you think you could email me? (jsteinbrecher at gmail dot **** spambots com) It would be helpful to hear from someone who has them on, adjusted and is riding with them. I'm sure you can offer a few tips that were only learned by cursing at them I ride pretty hard day to day, and the city isn't exactly forgiving. -Faylix ps: there isn't a **** spam bots in there U've got mail
  5. Considering that the question is not 'what are you GOOD at' I would have to go with corner exit. Although I did notice how better entries helped mid-corner which helped exit and BP. Been a long time since I've been even close to approaching any traction issues, except the ones in my head.
  6. I do hope we get you to one, sooner rather than later There is a skill that Keith is training now (in Level 2) that is not in any of the books yet, and totally sorted out blind turns for me, like night and day. Good point you brought up though, not everyone nails down what they do and don't do well, w/out some real help. Best, CF Did we do it when I was there?
  7. Which type of foam did you use? Density? I'd been thinking of using some kind of foam tape so I can be sure to not block any vents in my Scorpion EXO-700.

  9. Here's an article for the Street riders It's a reprint of THE PACE http://cbrforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=90727
  10. I am so demotivated to watch AMA now that's it's a week behind in broadcasting. Thanks DMG.
  11. Hopkins is now in WSBK!!!...and on a competitive bike! http://moto-racing.speedtv.com/article/wsb...w-john-hopkins/ Let's see what happens.
  12. MotoGP 4 is the greatest racing game ever. I have the PS3, and MotoGP '08 is only a LITTLE better than '07. Capcom really screwed up this franchise. I agree about PS2 MotoGP 4. That game has kept me thinking about roadracing thru the long....cold... Alaskan winters. I've spent many , many hours memorizing, and racing on all the GP tracks. Truth be told, I learned alot about my own short-comings. It really got me thinking about reading a track, breaking points, keeping my eyes up, and my heart rate down !! I've been playing that game ( Namco series ) since they had MotoGP 1. What a rush !!!!! Nothing beats the real thing, but this game tricks my eyes into thinking I'm really doing it. Silly, huh? Q: Can I convince myself to buy this, by telling myself that this is a training tool? Q: Will this game work on PS3 or any other platform (PC)?- I only own PC, but willing to buy new hardware depending on abovequestion Hi jay I dont think this is a good route to go down, I am a bit of a gamer and I can tell you it can become addictive and does your fitness absolutely no good whatsoever! As for a training tool, think about this, how many of the tracks in these games are you really going to ride in real life anyway? Here is what I have started using as a training tool and with this I get fit and can also learn the layout of almost any track in the world! I have got myself an indoor exercise bicycle, that covers the fitness side of things, then what I do while cycling is watch onbike videos from sites like utube etc! I did this watching hundreds of laps of donington park, then when I got there last week I felt like I knew the track and had never riden it before, it was great. I have yet to find a track that someone has not made an onboard video of! I see your point, but I'm no couch potato. As far as youtube....it doesn't really work well for me. I tried doing Streets videos before I got there....nada. I need to SEE IT myself. Or at least have SOME interaction. Plus it helps keep my head from doing the tilting thing while I'm at work and people looking at me strange
  13. You will understand the Lingo from reading Twist 2 and (guess what?)...This forum. The 2-Step drill isn't covered until Level 2 training, but concept material is in the book.
  14. Video is hard to follow...it's pretty hacked up.
  15. There are drips and drops on the forum, but not a real post per se. Perhaps you did find my itty bitty post...why no reply. In all seriousness, I'm digesting the weekend. I took a quick ride lastnight. I plan to review my notes in a few days, think some more and THEN post (probably by then my cup will have runeth over).
  16. Domina; One man's curse is another man's public service announcement...but you may be on to something with that cuse thing. Of the four times I've been at Laguna, it's rained three days. Hey since I will be in the area, do you want me to drop by? Kevin ha ha....he said DROP.
  17. AB; There's the whole other thread about others going to Laguna Seca that you might want to join in...they count down the days, they substitute for each other to count down the days, they talk about the responsibility of counting down the days, they talk about the pressure of counting down the days...and they don't know how to use spell-check. In all seriousness congratulations on getting in. Laguna is an awesome track, the surface itself is just about perfect and the School is, well you'll find out. Let us know how it goes and make sure you say hello to Fossil, Domina and Hotfoot because the three of them have created a ton of enthusiasm for the Laguna School. A group of us from the Forum got together at Infineon School a few weeks ago and had a lot of fun and it is a lock that you will too. Kevin AB, And, we're all stoked for you!! You'll definitely learn a lot and improve-there's a reason they guarantee that. It will be a blast and, you'll be back for more. I think Fossil, Hotfoot, Jaybird and I will be at the track the day before but, you're welcome to jump in on the thread. Just don't confuse Fossil and mess-up his countdown. He gets a little grumpy when he's flustered. As for you, Mr. Kane, I notice you made no attempt to curse AB. What gives? Spell-check. Yet another of the many banes of my existence... Sorry, I won't be able to attend Laguna with you guys. My fun in PST ended at The Streets. I'm now back on the right coast.
  18. I apologize if this is threadjacking, but Hotfoot brought out another question: Cobie mentioned to me that this turn had 2 apexes. I think my first 2 sessions, I instictively ran 2 apexes and then...I dunno...for some reason I tried to make this one sweeping turn with one apex. Do you have a photo? Possibly something drawn out for slowcoaches like me? A photo would really be helpful.
  19. Hey Jay Well as u can see from above...my problem was that my toes were on footpeg...so my coach had me move my foot forward to the balls of feet on footpegs, so more foot was sticking out. I guess maybe i have to move that inside foot back to the toes. My basic question still is ..why doesn't the knee hit first?? Seems like my bodyposition still isnt right. Pigeon toes? (LOL) No, just kidding. I don't know if it's your BP (I'm sure you're dropping the knee out) or suspension bottoming out (how much weight is it supporting) or some other issue. Ride height will determine which will drop first (knee or toe) during the turn. FWIW, Troy Bayliss routinely dragged titanium toe sliders.
  20. I first experienced this a few years back at Summit Point's Jefferson Circuit. I was in the Carousel (Turn?) and felt my right boot hit the deck, causing me to spook and stand the bike up a little. Definitely a barrier. I was told that most street riders (and you can observe this) will tend to lock their boot heel on the footpeg. It's comfortable and it provides a measure of consistency by having it there every time. I was advised to try and ride with the balls of my foot on the peg as Hotfoot suggested. It was uncomfortable and felt ... wrong, for so many reasons. But I worked on it for EVERY ride. It's now my preferred foot position and my feet, through muscle memory know where to go. Now, I only change when I'm on the highway and need a little more legroom. No more toe draggin. There's another benefit to it too, but I'll let you discover that on your own. Cheers.

Kevin- You're hilarious. I don't think I've seen you that funny before.
